{"id":200454,"date":"2020-03-10T17:14:13","date_gmt":"2020-03-10T16:14:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=200454"},"modified":"2020-03-10T17:14:54","modified_gmt":"2020-03-10T16:14:54","slug":"buhari-begs-nigerian-women-to-be-role-models-to-younger-generation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=200454","title":{"rendered":"Buhari begs Nigerian women to be role models to younger generation"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday urged Nigerian women to be \u201crole models to their younger generation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Buhari, who made the appeal while hailing the achievements of Nigerian women in different fields of endeavour, urged them to remain steadfast in their chosen vocations.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking during an audience with Dr Eleanor Nwadinobi, President of the Medical Women\u2019s International Association at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Buhari congratulated Nigerian women on breaking new grounds in the medical field.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement signed and sent to DAILY POST by his spokesperson, Femi Adesina, Buhari said he was delighted to receive Dr Nwadinobi, the first Nigerian elected as President of the Association in its 100 years of existence.<\/p>\n<p>According to Buhari: \u2018\u2018I am also proud to see and hear about the great achievements of Dr Nwadinobi.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018\u2018The story of her career and what she has been able to accomplish thus far is commendable and must be celebrated.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018\u2018I take this opportunity to congratulate you, Dr Nwadinobi and all your colleagues on your successes as I pray for many more years of accomplishments.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Buhari recalled that on the 8th of March 2020, the whole world celebrated International Women\u2019s Day and reflected on the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women universally.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018\u2018I will, therefore, ask Dr Nwadinobi and all members of the Medical Women\u2019s International Association to continue to be role models for our younger sisters and daughters.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018\u2018With the right encouragement, support and guidance, our womenfolk can equal the achievements of other women elsewhere,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>In her remarks, Dr Nwadinobi thanked the President for receiving her along with her team members, noting that with her election, the Association has not only honoured Nigeria, \u201cbut also aligned with Your Excellency\u2019s administration in stepping up to the Next Level.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She said Nigeria now has \u201cthe strongest voice in the Medical Women\u2019s International Association, and can also be a strategic and dependable partner in transforming women\u2019s health indices.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dr Nwadinobi commended efforts being made by the government to protect Nigerians from the Covid-19 outbreak, stressing: \u201cOur prayer is that in the same way we set a good example in the handling of Ebola, that we will also overcome and contain the Coronavirus.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday urged Nigerian women to be \u201crole models to their younger generation.\u201d Buhari, who made the appeal while hailing the achievements of Nigerian women in different fields of endeavour, urged them to remain steadfast in their chosen vocations.
