{"id":193071,"date":"2020-02-12T10:02:10","date_gmt":"2020-02-12T09:02:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=193071"},"modified":"2020-02-12T10:05:19","modified_gmt":"2020-02-12T09:05:19","slug":"osinbajo-hails-moi-at-burial-of-ex-kenyan-president","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=193071","title":{"rendered":"Osinbajo hails Moi at burial of ex-Kenyan president"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">\n<p>Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has described ex-President of Kenya, Arap Moi, as one of the foremost leaders of African decolonisation.<\/p>\n<p>This was contained in a statement on Tuesday by his spokesman, Laolu Akande.<\/p>\n<p>Osinabjo spoke at the state funeral for the late Moi in Nairobi.<\/p>\n<p>Osinabjo said many people in Africa \u201cwill remember him in particular for the pioneering work that he did, especially with respect to regional cooperation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was, as we have heard, very instrumental in the resuscitation of the East African Community along with President Museveni and others.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was also very instrumental in Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) and even the Intergovernmental Authority on Development, IGAD.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese are the precursors of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement arrangements we are making today and to which almost every African country has subscribed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd it will define the future of trade and relations in Africa\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Other leaders who paid tributes included Presidents Paul Kagame of Rwanda and Yoweri Museveni of Uganda.<\/p>\n<p>Moi, who was in power from 1978 to 2002, died on February 4 at the age of 95.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has described ex-President of Kenya, Arap Moi, as one of the foremost leaders of African decolonisation.
