{"id":192147,"date":"2020-02-08T12:29:57","date_gmt":"2020-02-08T11:29:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=192147"},"modified":"2020-02-08T12:30:27","modified_gmt":"2020-02-08T11:30:27","slug":"one-killed-as-kidnappers-storm-college-of-education-provosts-residence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=192147","title":{"rendered":"One killed as kidnappers storm College of Education Provost&#8217;s residence"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">One person has been confirmed dead in an attempt to kidnap Dr. Mike Dio-Jen, the Provost of Taraba College of Education, Zing in Taraba State.<\/p>\n<p>The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday at the Provost\u2019s residence at the Green Beach area of Kona ward in Jalingo.<\/p>\n<p>An eyewitness told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the kidnappers fired several gunshots at the gate of the provost\u2019s house and forced their way in.<\/p>\n<p>They, however, met stiff resistance by security operatives, guarding the provost\u2019s house.<\/p>\n<p>The shooting caused the death of the gate man of the house while the assailants fled the area through a nearby river<\/p>\n<p>The remains of the deceased, Shawulu Yeshi, a staff member of the college, have been deposited at the morgue of Federal Medical Centre, in Jalingo.<\/p>\n<p>The Police spokesman in Taraba, ASP David Misal, confirmed the incident.
