The Plateau Government, on Monday, began its Annual Prayer Day to intercede for the increasing insecurity in the state.<\/p>\n

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the prayer was held at the Government House Chapel, Jos.<\/p>\n

The government organised the prayers in collaboration with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Plateau chapter<\/p>\n

Speaking, the Chaplain of the chapel, Rev. Fr David Ajang, said that the theme of the prayers \u2018His Grace\u2019 because believers were living in perilous times.<\/p>\n

He added that Plateau state was experiencing tribulations from attacks on its communities lives were lost, its citizens were in captivity by insurgents while some were killed.<\/p>\n

In his remarks, the CAN chairman in Plateau, Rev. Dr Soja Bewarang, appealed to Christians to desist from spreading false information capable of causing harm in the state.<\/p>\n

Bewarang while praying for the lives lost during the recent attacks in Plateau and healing for the injured said CAN was committed to supporting the government and traditional leaders in ensuring peace in the state,<\/p>\n

\u201cI ask of three only things from us, to be just, humble and closely with God,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

This is coming at a time when Nigerians, Christian organisations in the country have raised their concerns over the rate of killings, kidnapping in the state.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, Pastor Enoch Adeboye led his members in a protest over the increasing situation of insecurity in the country.<\/p>\n

Also speaking at the event, Gov Simon Lalong said that his administration would adopt community policing as a security measure,<\/p>\n

He disclosed that traditional leaders and youths would be trained and held responsible for security challenges in their communities.<\/p>\n

\u201cTraining for community policing will be done according to the traditions of the people of Plateau, guided by the law already existing of Operation Rainbow<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are determined to do our best in providing purposeful leadership that inspires confidence, support peaceful coexistence, delivers basic services and infrastructure to our people, as well as leave behind lasting legacies for generations to come,\u201d he said<\/p>\n

The Governor assured the people that his administration was working with the Federal Government and security agencies to ensure the safety of lives and properties in the state, and ensure the release of those in captivity of insurgents<\/p>\n

He appealed to Christians to unite and pray for the peace of the state and the nation, irrespective of denominations, tribe or political affiliations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
