{"id":189876,"date":"2020-01-31T17:29:45","date_gmt":"2020-01-31T16:29:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=189876"},"modified":"2020-01-31T17:47:27","modified_gmt":"2020-01-31T16:47:27","slug":"2023-secondus-speaks-on-zoning-merger","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=189876","title":{"rendered":"2023: Secondus speaks on zoning, merger"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">The People\u2019s Democratic Party (PDP) said it was, at the moment, concerned with rebuilding the party than the zoning of 2023 presidential ticket of the party.<br \/>\nThe National Chairman, Uche Secondus, who recently said the party would appeal the sack of Emeka Ihedioha as governor, spoke to newsmen on Thursday in Abuja.<br \/>\nHe stressed that the party was preparing itself to win elections in the future, while the issue of zoning would be looked into at the appropriate time.<br \/>\n\u201cToday we are more concerned in rebuilding our party. When the time comes for the nomination of a Presidential candidate the party will come out with its position.<br \/>\n\u201cYou know the constitution allows everybody, whether you are from the north, whether you are from the south to contest.<br \/>\n\u201cNo one is going to stop anyone from contesting even when it is zoned to a particular region, and I have been talking about it in the past.<br \/>\n\u201cSo, every person still has a right to contest; so, if you are qualified and desire to run for the office of the President, you are free to contest,\u201d Secondus said.<br \/>\nWhen asked if the party was considering a merger, Secondus said it could happen if there was need for it.<br \/>\n\u201cWhy not, when the time comes, if there is need for people to pull their resources and pull their strength together, it can happen, it is possible.<br \/>\n\u201cOur focus is in making sure that our party is strong and viral and ready to win elections.<br \/>\nSecondus said that the party\u2019s national leaders were working hard with its members and leaders in Edo, to win the state forthcoming governorship election.<br \/>\n\u201cWe are working very hard in Edo state. We met with the leadership and stakeholders of Edo state last week.<br \/>\n\u201cI believe that our people are coming together, very strong and you are aware that state belongs to PDP before the APC took it from us.
