{"id":183918,"date":"2020-01-11T21:52:51","date_gmt":"2020-01-11T20:52:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=183918"},"modified":"2020-01-11T21:55:30","modified_gmt":"2020-01-11T20:55:30","slug":"we-didnt-arraign-ex-vice-president-atiku-efcc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=183918","title":{"rendered":"We didn&#8217;t arraign Ex-Vice President Atiku &#8211; EFCC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"ds-1col file file-image file-image-jpeg view-mode-embedded centered clearfix block-story-object block-story-object-resource block-story-object-resource-image\"><br \/>\n<span class=\"block-story-object-asset\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"media-element file-embedded\" typeof=\"foaf:Image\" src=\"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/storage\/2020\/01\/EFCC-Denies-Arraigning-Nigerias-Ex-Vice-President-Atiku-In-Lagos-Court.jpeg\" alt=\"\"><\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has urged members of the public to disregard news making the rounds that it had arraigned a former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, in court. <\/p>\n<p>In a statement by the Acting Head, Media and Publicity of the agency, Tony Orilade, such reports were described as fake and made to distabilise the polity.<\/p>\n<p>The statement reads, \u201cThe attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has been drawn to an online report which claimed that the commission on Thursday, January 9, 2020, arraigned former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, before Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court, Ikeja, Lagos for an alleged fraud of N75.3bn and wishes to state categorically that nothing of such took place.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe commission also wishes to state that no statement or press release emanated from the spokesperson of the commission, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, to that effect as claimed in the report nor was there any involvement of any sort from the commission\u2019s prosecutor, Joy Amahian, in the imaginary arraignment. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe story remains the author\u2019s imagination and fake news.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe commission, therefore urges the general public to disregard the fake news as handiwork of mischief makers.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has urged members of the public to disregard news making the rounds that it had arraigned a former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, in court.
