{"id":180960,"date":"2020-01-02T17:36:01","date_gmt":"2020-01-02T16:36:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=180960"},"modified":"2020-01-02T17:39:25","modified_gmt":"2020-01-02T16:39:25","slug":"taiwanese-military-chief-dies-as-helicopter-crashes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=180960","title":{"rendered":"Taiwanese military chief dies as helicopter crashes"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">Taiwan\u2019s military chief was among eight people who died in helicopter crash on Thursday in northern Taiwan, the national defence ministry said.<\/p>\n<p>The 62-year-old Chief of General Staff, Shen Yi-ming, was among the high-ranking officials killed, the ministry told reporters via the social media messaging app LINE.<\/p>\n<p>The UH-60M Black Hawk military helicopter took off at 7:50 am (2350 GMT Wednesday) from Taiwan\u2019s capital Taipei City on a routine mission to visit troops in remote areas in eastern Yilan County.<\/p>\n<p>It was forced to make an emergency landing in mountains near Taipei a little more than 30 minutes later, local media quoted the ministry as saying.<\/p>\n<p>There were 13 people on the aircraft in total.
