{"id":175955,"date":"2019-12-15T09:16:55","date_gmt":"2019-12-15T08:16:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=175955"},"modified":"2019-12-15T09:18:13","modified_gmt":"2019-12-15T08:18:13","slug":"gunmen-kill-university-don-in-edo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=175955","title":{"rendered":"Gunmen Kill University Don In Edo"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><span class=\"ds-1col file file-image file-image-jpeg view-mode-embedded centered clearfix block-story-object block-story-object-resource block-story-object-resource-image\"><br \/>\n<span class=\"block-story-object-asset\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"media-element file-embedded\" typeof=\"foaf:Image\" src=\"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/storage\/2019\/12\/Gunmen-Kill-University-Don-In-Edo.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"container container-pod container-pod-short\"><span class=\"adunit-parent hide block-module block-module-ad block-module-ad-300x250\"><span class=\"block-module-image-wrapper\"><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>A senior lecturer at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Prof Jerome Elusiyan, was on Friday shot dead by gunmen along the Benin-Ekpoma Expressway in Edo State.<\/p>\n<p>Elusiyan, who was the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex, was attacked at Iruekpen in Esan West Local Government Area of Edo.<\/p>\n<p>The professor was waylaid alongside his driver, who was also shot and sustained injuries.<\/p>\n<p>A cousin to the deceased, Mr Tayo Ayoshile, confirmed the incident in Akure, Ondo state.<\/p>\n<p>Ayoshile said the university don was killed while transiting from Benin where he went to supervise medical students sitting for professional exams at the Iruua Specialist Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cHe was returning home when he was shot dead during the attack while his driver sustained gunshot injuries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis death is a shock to us who knew him closely.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kemi Fasoto, spokesperson for OAUTHC, also confirmed the incident.<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A senior lecturer at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Prof Jerome Elusiyan, was on Friday shot dead by gunmen along the Benin-Ekpoma Expressway in Edo State.
