{"id":168198,"date":"2019-11-15T23:30:32","date_gmt":"2019-11-15T22:30:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=168198"},"modified":"2019-11-15T23:33:42","modified_gmt":"2019-11-15T22:33:42","slug":"tanker-explosion-kills-two-destroys-17-vehicles-on-lagos-abeokuta-expressway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=168198","title":{"rendered":"Tanker Explosion Kills Two, Destroys 17 Vehicles On Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><span class=\"ds-1col file file-image file-image-png view-mode-embedded centered clearfix block-story-object block-story-object-resource block-story-object-resource-image\"><br \/>\n<span class=\"block-story-object-asset\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"media-element file-embedded\" typeof=\"foaf:Image\" src=\"http:\/\/arewa.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Tanker-Explosion-Kills-Two-Destroys-17-Vehicles-On-Lagos-Abeokuta-Expressway.png\" alt=\"\"><\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"container container-pod container-pod-short\"><span class=\"adunit-parent hide block-module block-module-ad block-module-ad-300x250\"><span class=\"block-module-image-wrapper\"><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Two persons were confirmed dead and six others injured in a fire accident involving a petroleum tanker at Bible College bus-stop along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway on Thursday night, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>Federal Road Safety Corps\u2019 Assistant Corps Commander in Ota, Ganiyu Akeem, disclosed that 17 vehicles were also burnt in the accident that happened around 11:55pm on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>He said the incident happened when the tanker fell and spilled its content into a drainage by the roadside.<\/p>\n<p>He said the tanker ignited the fire that burnt many vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>An official of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Mr Adekunle Ajibade, revealed that the fuel-laden truck was heading to Lagos from Sango-Ota when it developed a gear fault and overturned in the process.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cThe driver was trying to change the gear of the vehicle and lost control.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe truck overturned and caught fire immediately.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The FRSC commander said that seven fire-fighting trucks, three from Ogun and four from Lagos, were promptly mobilised to the scene.<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two persons were confirmed dead and six others injured in a fire accident involving a petroleum tanker at Bible College bus-stop along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway on Thursday night, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.
