{"id":167468,"date":"2019-11-13T11:53:51","date_gmt":"2019-11-13T10:53:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=167468"},"modified":"2019-11-13T12:01:30","modified_gmt":"2019-11-13T11:01:30","slug":"nigeria-vs-benin-republic-what-rohr-said-about-mikel-obi-odion-ighalo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=167468","title":{"rendered":"Nigeria vs Benin Republic: What Rohr said about Mikel Obi, Odion Ighalo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/arewa.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/AFCON-2019-Rohr-names-goalkeeper-that-will-start-against-Guinea-gives-reason.jpg\"><\/p>\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr, has confessed that his side is still missing the leadership qualities of ex-internationals, John Obi Mikel and Odion Ighalo.<\/p>\n<p>Rohr said this ahead of Nigeria\u2019s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier clash against Benin Republic on Wednesday evening in Uyo.<\/p>\n<p>Both Mikel and Ighalo announced their retirement from international football in July this year after winning Bronze medal at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dWe have to find new leaders and we are missing the leadership from Obi Mikel and Ighalo but we have other ones who replaced them and they are passionate and they are able to do the same roles as the other ones did, I hope so,\u201d Rohr told reporters in his pre-match press conference in Uyo ahead of Wednesday\u2019s clash.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dOsimhen is starting now, he is very young. Ighalo scoring so many goals was the mental leader of the team on and off the pitch.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dObi Mikel after a great career could finish with a bronze medal which is wonderful for him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dNow Musa is the captain, if he\u2019s not here it\u2019s Kenneth or Ekong so the leadership is still here and the leadership must be done by everybody not only by one or two persons.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dThey have a special responsibility because they are captains but everybody is concerned by the leadership.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr, has confessed that his side is still missing the leadership qualities of ex-internationals, John Obi Mikel and Odion Ighalo.
