<\/p>\nA week after having a penalty overturned and Callum Hudson-Odoi instead booked for diving, the Blues conceded a spot-kick against Watford following a lengthy review.<\/p>\n
Jorginho was adjudged to have tripped Gerard Deulofeu, following the intervention of VAR official Mike Dean and on-field referee Anthony Taylor pointed to the spot.<\/p>\n
Deulofeu stepped up to make it 2-1, as Chelsea held on for three points.<\/p>\n
And Lampard said what unfolded at Watford, went against what Premier League managers were told would happen at a meeting about VAR on Thursday.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cIf we\u2019re going to say there might be grey areas in turning over decisions because one referee somewhere else thinks it was more of a penalty than the referee on the pitch did, there we\u2019re in a really dangerous place and you\u2019re going to be tossing a coin every week to see what decision you\u2019re going to get.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was at a manager\u2019s meeting in midweek and we spoke a lot about it.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe absolute consensus from managers, referees, the Premier League was the penalties or decisions \u2014 this is what I took from the meeting, anyway \u2014 are not going to get overturned unless they\u2019re absolutely clear and obvious, and the VAR absolutely saw something that the referee on the pitch didn\u2019t see.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis didn\u2019t, it nowhere near showed that, and the longer it took, the more worried I got. I\u2019m so, so surprised from coming away on Thursday from that meeting to have that decision today.<\/p>\n
