The 37-year-old quit the national team in 2015 following a reported row with former Super Eagles Head Coach, Sunday Oliseh.<\/p>\n
The row between him and Oliseh stripped him of the Eagles captaincy.<\/p>\n
However, the 2013 AFCON winner disclosed that the decision to strip him of the captain band and the handling of the issue by the NFF led to his retirement from international football.<\/p>\n
Speaking with Get French Football News podcast, he said: \u201cI never wanted it to end the way that it did but who am I.<\/p>\n
\u201cI believe in God, I believe he made it happen, so I accept it\u2026 It is a part of my story that I wouldn\u2019t really want to talk about. Because it is a little more complicated that people will know.<\/p>\n
\u201cI lost my mum, and I couldn\u2019t represent the country in the match, the coach got angry, the federation got angry and one thing led to the other, which led to the other, which led to the other.<\/p>\n
