{"id":162946,"date":"2019-10-25T07:35:46","date_gmt":"2019-10-25T06:35:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=162946"},"modified":"2019-10-25T07:38:01","modified_gmt":"2019-10-25T06:38:01","slug":"teacher-who-raped-two-year-old-bags-60-year-imprisonment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=162946","title":{"rendered":"Teacher who raped two-year-old bags 60-year Imprisonment"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><span class=\"ds-1col file file-image file-image-jpeg view-mode-embedded centered clearfix block-story-object block-story-object-resource block-story-object-resource-image\"><br \/>\n<span class=\"block-story-object-asset\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"media-element file-embedded\" typeof=\"foaf:Image\" src=\"http:\/\/arewa.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Rape-Victim-Eulogies-Grief-As-Ochanya\u2019s-Remains-Laid-To-Rest.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>A supervisor at Chrisland School, Lekki, Lagos, Adegboyega Adenekan, who raped a two-year-old girl, has been sentenced to 60 years in prison.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Sybil Nwaka sitting at the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court sentenced and convicted 47-year-old Adenekan to jail.<\/p>\n<p>The teacher was charged with one count charge bothering on the rape of a minor.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Nwaka, while giving the ruling, held that the evidence before the court showed that the supervisor was guilty as charged.<\/p>\n<p>The judge said, \u201cThis defendant is conscienceless, wicked, an animal, and not fit to walk on the streets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hereby sentence Adegboyega Adenekan to 60 years imprisonment. This is the sentence of the court.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nwaka said that schools should not only be interested in economic gains but the welfare of pupils as well.<\/p>\n<p>The judge added, \u201cSchools should not cover up teachers who sexually abuse children.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cParents should not be carried away by the aesthetics of schools. This case may just be the tip of the iceberg as a lot of our children are suffering in silence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cParents should be bold enough to confront teachers and school management because a lot of our children are suffering in silence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI advise or recommend that the education and social welfare ministry workers should visit schools randomly to give them a check.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Seven witnesses, including the pupil and her mother testified for the prosecution, which closed its case on March 14, while the defence called five witnesses.<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A supervisor at Chrisland School, Lekki, Lagos, Adegboyega Adenekan, who raped a two-year-old girl, has been sentenced to 60 years in prison.
