Liverpool winger, Sadio Mane, admits it was a \u201cgreat compliment\u201d to be Lionel Messi\u2019s number one vote for The Best FIFA Men\u2019s Player award.<\/p>\n

The Senegal star received Messi\u2019s top vote for the award last month, with the Barcelona winger eventually picking up the prize himself, while Mane finished fifth.<\/p>\n

Mane\u2019s team-mate Virgil van Dijk finished in second, ahead of Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo and fellow Reds winger Mohamed Salah in third and fourth respectively.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a great compliment when Messi votes for you,\u201d Mane said in an interview with The Sunday Times.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you look at where I\u2019ve come from, it shows I\u2019ve come quite far. Without being for a long time at an academy, I got here.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll I can say [to kids] is to keep working hard and go for your dream.\u201d<\/p>\n

And on whether or not he would return the favour for Messi if given the chance, the Liverpool winger joked: \u201cYes, for sure\u2026after Virgil [Van Dijk].
