{"id":160969,"date":"2019-10-17T08:58:40","date_gmt":"2019-10-17T07:58:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=160969"},"modified":"2019-10-17T09:01:31","modified_gmt":"2019-10-17T08:01:31","slug":"sex-for-marks-unilag-sets-up-task-force-on-sexual-harassment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=160969","title":{"rendered":"Sex for marks: UNILAG sets up task force on sexual harassment"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><span class=\"ds-1col file file-image file-image-jpeg view-mode-embedded centered clearfix block-story-object block-story-object-resource block-story-object-resource-image\"><br \/>\n<span class=\"block-story-object-asset\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"media-element file-embedded\" typeof=\"foaf:Image\" src=\"http:\/\/arewa.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Sex-for-grades-UNILAG-Inaugurates-Task-Force-On-Sexual-Harassment.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The University of Lagos has set up a task force to address issues of sexual harassment with a view to stemming it, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>The university\u2019s Principal Assistant Registrar for Communication, Mrs Taiwo Oloyede, said in a statement that it was \u201cin continuation of the institution\u2019s unrelenting campaign against the menace of sexual harassment and other forms of inappropriate behaviours\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The institution recently suspended two senior lecturers exposed in alleged sexual harassment in a BBC investigative documentary video.<\/p>\n<p>The documentary also exposed some lecturers of the University of Ghana, Legon.<\/p>\n<p>The statement added, \u201cThe task force has the mandate to examine the extant University of Lagos policy on sexual harassment, receive complaints from faculties, departments and other units concerning matters that border on sexual harassment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is to also receive oral and written testimonies from staff and students involved in cases of sexual harassment and recommend appropriate sanction for offenders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe task force, in addition to other functions, will put forward counselling and other therapies for mitigating the adverse effects of sexual harassment on victims and carry out other duties aimed at eradicating the ugly trend from the institution.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The University of Lagos has set up a task force to address issues of sexual harassment with a view to stemming it, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.
