{"id":160656,"date":"2019-10-16T09:44:08","date_gmt":"2019-10-16T08:44:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=160656"},"modified":"2019-10-16T09:53:32","modified_gmt":"2019-10-16T08:53:32","slug":"lecturers-in-ondo-college-call-off-strike-action","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=160656","title":{"rendered":"Lecturers In Ondo College Call Off Strike Action"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><span class=\"ds-1col file file-image file-image-jpeg view-mode-embedded centered clearfix block-story-object block-story-object-resource block-story-object-resource-image\"><br \/>\n<span class=\"block-story-object-asset\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"media-element file-embedded\" typeof=\"foaf:Image\" src=\"http:\/\/arewa.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Lecturers-In-Ondo-College-Call-Off-Strike-Action.jpeg\" alt=\"\"><\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"container container-pod container-pod-short\"><span class=\"adunit-parent hide block-module block-module-ad block-module-ad-300x250\"><span class=\"block-module-image-wrapper\"><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Aggrieved lecturers of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo State, have called off their one-week-old strike action, SaharaReporters has learnt.<\/p>\n<p>The strike was called off after an expansive meeting between the protesting lecturers and the college&#8217;s management.<\/p>\n<p>At the meeting held on Tuesday, the lecturers agreed to resume back to work after some of their demands were met by the management.<\/p>\n<p>A source at the meeting, told SaharaReporters that members of the governing council of the college were able to intervene over the lingering demands.<\/p>\n<p>The source said, \u201cWe (lecturers) have decided to call off our strike action shortly after a meeting with the institution&#8217;s management and members of the Governing Council Board.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe management, through the board, was able to show some willingness and understanding to our plight and demands.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, we have agreed to work things out and resume back to work in the interest of students.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As at the time of this report, it was not clear which of the demands of the protesting lecturers were met by the management.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, students of the college have been instructed to resume for academic activities.<\/p>\n<p>Provost of the institution, Samuel Akintunde, gave the instruction in a circular issued shortly after the meeting with the lecturers. <\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Aggrieved lecturers of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo State, have called off their one-week-old strike action, SaharaReporters has learnt.
