English club, Sunderland on Tuesday sacked their manager, Jack Ross, after a slow start to League One season.<\/p>\n

Ross was sacked following Sunderland\u2019s 2-0 defeat to Lincoln at the weekend.<\/p>\n

Sunderland made this known in a statement on the club\u2019s official website on Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

The statement read: \u201cSunderland AFC announced this afternoon that it had terminated the contract of manager Jack Ross.<\/p>\n

\u201cSAFC chairman Stewart Donald said: \u2018This is a decision that has been made with a heavy heart. When we arrived at the club 18 months ago, we appointed Jack because we felt that he was the right man to take Sunderland forward over a number of years.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018Jack has worked extremely hard, and has helped us achieve stability at the club, and I sincerely thank him for his efforts. I hope and believe that he will go on to have a successful career in management.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cAssistant manager James Fowler has been placed in temporary charge of first team affairs and will oversee this evening\u2019s home game against Grimsby Town in the leasing.com Trophy.
