{"id":151712,"date":"2019-09-12T18:28:44","date_gmt":"2019-09-12T17:28:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=151712"},"modified":"2019-09-12T18:28:47","modified_gmt":"2019-09-12T17:28:47","slug":"presidential-tribunal-atiku-told-to-forget-appeal-support-buhari","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=151712","title":{"rendered":"Presidential tribunal: Atiku told to forget appeal, support Buhari"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/arewa.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/BREAKING-PDP-vs-APC-Tribunal-rules-on-Atiku-PDPs-application-to-inspect-INEC-server.jpg\"><\/p>\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">Chief Davies Ikanya, former State chairman, Rivers All Progressives Congress (APC), on Thursday advised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubaka, to support the, \u201cNext Level\u201d agenda of President Muhammadu Buhari, rather than going ahead to appeal his victory at the Election Petition Tribunal.<\/p>\n<p>Ikanya in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt, said the tribunal\u2019s judgment was an impressive signal of hope in the judiciary.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m impressed with Wednesday\u2019s ruling by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, that decision was indeed painstakingly delivered.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe judges were very thorough and meticulous in dealing with all issues raised in the petition and the counters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, having got this kind of judgment in this country, it means that the hope of the common man will be restored in the judiciary.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPersonally, I really don\u2019t see any need for an appeal except for the purpose of concluding a judicial process,\u201d he told NAN.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll the same, it is their right, they are free to go on and appeal, but my view is that they should save both financial and intellectual strength and look forward to moving our country forward.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEspecially now that the president has extended the olive branch to the opposition, calling on them to join hands to work for the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think they should heed that clarion call and join hands with Mr President to move our country to the Next Level.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The party chieftain, therefore, congratulated the judiciary and Nigerians, saying the ruling was a victory for the nation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to congratulate the judiciary for this landmark judgment, I want to also congratulate Nigerians and even the lawyers that represented the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), they all did their best.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe good thing is that justice was indeed given to Nigerians and to our great leader, President Muhammadu Buhari, who was actually voted for by Nigerians and who has been confirmed duly elected.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYesterday, I listened to an analyst, a very senior lawyer and he advised the PDP and its Presidential flag bearer, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar not to bother appealing the judgment at the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p>According to the lawyer, there is going to do that anybody could do to upturn the judgment,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Ikanya also said that the tribunal besides giving victory to a deserving president has also put to rest the certificate saga.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe judgment yesterday did not only confirm the president as qualified to serve in his capacity, but \u2019eminently qualified\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a retired General in the Nigerian Army, who had attended several courses, Nigerians are just politicking on this issue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe all know that every personnel who rose through the rank and file in the military are sound because they are very well trained and President Muhammadu Buhari is one of such sound minds,\u201d Ikanya said.<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Chief Davies Ikanya, former State chairman, Rivers All Progressives Congress (APC), on Thursday advised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubaka, to support the, \u201cNext Level\u201d agenda of President Muhammadu Buhari, rather than going ahead to appeal his victory at the Election Petition Tribunal.
