Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has described Chris Smalling\u2019s move from Old Trafford to AS Roma as \u2018a new experience and an adventure\u2019.<\/p>\n

DAILY POST reports that Smalling has agreed a season-long loan deal to join the Serie A side.<\/p>\n

But Solskjaer now believes that Smalling, who is Man United\u2019s longest-serving player, will enjoy his time at Roma.<\/p>\n

\u201cChris is on his way over [to Italy]. He\u2019s flying over to Rome this morning to do a medical and all the final details,\u201d Solskjaer told MUTV on Friday ahead of Man United\u2019s Premier League clash against Southampton.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the moment we\u2019ve got six centre-backs and it\u2019s just something that popped up towards the end [of the European transfer window] in the last couple of days. Chris fancied the chance to go over there; it\u2019s a new experience, new adventure.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019ll come back better for it because it\u2019s a big club, it\u2019s a good league. There aren\u2019t too many English players who have been playing in Italy so I think he\u2019ll enjoy it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Smalling made 34 appearances and scored 1 goal for the Man United in all competitions last season.<\/p>\n
