Tottenham Hotspur captain, Harry Kane, has said \u201cit is hard to understand\u201d how he was denied a penalty in their 1-0 defeat to Newcastle on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Kane appeared to be brought to the ground by falling Newcastle defender Jamaal Lascelles in the final 10 minutes of the game.<\/p>\n

And after referee Mike Dean waved play on, VAR upheld the decision.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is hard to understand how it hasn\u2019t been given.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust like when a keeper comes out, uses his arms and trips you up \u2013 it\u2019s a penalty.<\/p>\n

\u201cI kind of tripped over his (Lascelles) arm and then his body. Whether it was deliberate or not, from my point of view it is hard to take. It is there to help the referee on the pitch. That being said he didn\u2019t know, he couldn\u2019t see.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s where VAR is there to help him out. If he had said \u2018no penalty\u2019 and the VAR said it was a 50-50, you can agree.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know what the conversation was \u2013 whether he said he didn\u2019t see it or not, but from my point of view, it\u2019s hard to understand. That\u2019s the way football goes sometimes.<\/p>\n
