An Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates\u2019 Court, Lagos, on Wednesday, ordered that a 54-year-old man, Tahir Jubril, who allegedly stabbed his neighbour to death with a knife, be remanded in Ikoyi Prison pending legal advice.<\/p>\n

Chief Magistrate O. Kusanu, who did not take the plea of the defendant, remanded him, pending legal advice from the state Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), NAN reports.<\/p>\n

She then adjourned the matter until Sept. 23.<\/p>\n

The Prosecution Counsel, Insp. Cousin Adams told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 17, about 7.30pm at his residence.<\/p>\n

He said that the defendant stabbed his neighbour, Mr Abubakar Asale, 37, with a knife on the left side of his neck during a fight that broke out between the duo.<\/p>\n

Adams said the offence contravened provisions of Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, which prescribes a death sentence for offender.<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
