{"id":145426,"date":"2019-08-21T05:52:50","date_gmt":"2019-08-21T04:52:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=145426"},"modified":"2019-08-21T05:54:05","modified_gmt":"2019-08-21T04:54:05","slug":"how-residents-barred-us-from-searching-ambodes-house-efcc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=145426","title":{"rendered":"How residents barred us from searching Ambode\u2019s house \u2013EFCC"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><span class=\"ds-1col file file-image file-image-jpeg view-mode-embedded centered clearfix block-story-object block-story-object-resource block-story-object-resource-image\"><br \/>\n<span class=\"block-story-object-asset\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"media-element file-embedded\" typeof=\"foaf:Image\" src=\"http:\/\/arewa.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Alledged-N6.9bn-Fraud-EFCC-Set-To-Disown-Witness-For-Being-Hostile.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has revealed how residents of Epe stopped its operatives from searching the house of former Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Sahara Reportershad reported that residents of Epe barred EFCC personnel from gaining access to the apartment.<\/p>\n<p>The commission, however, claimed that hoodlums stopped its operatives and also attacked the convoy of its personnel, who went for the operation.<\/p>\n<p>Head of Media and Publicity of EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, in a statement, said though the commission obtained a legal and valid search warrant, it was unable to carry out the mission.<\/p>\n<p>The statement reads, \u201cThe attempt by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to execute a search warrant on the residence of a former Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, was on Tuesday August 20, 2019 resisted by hoodlums loyal to him.<br \/>\n<span class=\"ds-1col block-story-object block-story-object-link block-story-object-link-story\" about=\"\/2019\/08\/20\/ambodes-kinsmen-neighbour-prevent-efccs-raid-former-governor-ambode%E2%80%99s-house\" typeof=\"sioc:Item foaf:Document\"><br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"block-story-object-content-body\"><br \/>\n<span class=\"node node-story node-promoted node-sticky taxonomy-politics view-mode-embedded_link block-module block-module-small block-module-story\"><br \/>\n<span class=\"block-module-image block-module-image-scale-to-fit\"><span class=\"block-module-image-wrapper\"><span class=\"image-background-wrapper\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" typeof=\"foaf:Image\" src=\"http:\/\/arewa.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/EFCC-Yet-To-Communicate-With-Me-Says-Ambode-After-Raid-On-Home.png\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" alt=\"\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe thugs attacked the operatives and vandalised their vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe commission had obtained valid warrant to conduct search on Ambode\u2019s residences in ParkView, Ikoyi, and country home in Epe, as part of ongoing investigation of alleged malfeasance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, the commission\u2019s operatives were attacked and prevented from executing the search warrant in Epe by irate youths who injured three officers and damaged EFCC official vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe attack was totally unprovoked as the commission\u2019s operatives were civil and did not molest anybody.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe commission, therefore, frowns at the attempt to manipulate the video of the search to create the wrong impression that officers of the agency molested residents at the Epe home of the former governor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is also not true that the search was an attempt to plant foreign currencies in the home of the former governor.\u201d<br \/>\n<span class=\"ds-1col block-story-object block-story-object-link block-story-object-link-story\" about=\"\/2019\/08\/20\/breaking-efcc-invades-ex-lagos-governor-ambode%E2%80%99s-house\" typeof=\"sioc:Item foaf:Document\"><br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"block-story-object-content-body\"><br \/>\n<span class=\"node node-story node-promoted node-sticky taxonomy-breaking-news view-mode-embedded_link block-module block-module-small block-module-story\"><br \/>\n<span class=\"block-module-image block-module-image-scale-to-fit\"><span class=\"block-module-image-wrapper\"><span class=\"image-background-wrapper\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" typeof=\"foaf:Image\" src=\"http:\/\/arewa.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Boko-Haram-Islamic-State-Claim-Responsibility-For-Attacks-On-Soldiers-Military-Base-In-Borno.jpg\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" alt=\"\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has revealed how residents of Epe stopped its operatives from searching the house of former Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, on Tuesday.
