{"id":142059,"date":"2019-08-08T15:07:12","date_gmt":"2019-08-08T14:07:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=142059"},"modified":"2019-08-08T15:08:30","modified_gmt":"2019-08-08T14:08:30","slug":"uber-driver-remanded-for-allegedly-stealing-n910000-wilful-damage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=142059","title":{"rendered":"Uber driver remanded for allegedly stealing N910,000, wilful damage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/arewa.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Man-in-court-over-alleged-unlawful-possession-of-firearm-in-Ekiti.jpg\"><\/p>\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">A 53-year-old Uber driver, Adewale Adenekan, has appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates\u2019 Court for allegedly stealing N910,000 and wilful damage of car.<\/p>\n<p>Adenekan, is a resident of at No. 27A Olaogun Road, Olaogun Bus-Stop in Ogun, who is charged with two counts of theft and wilful damage.<\/p>\n<p>The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. Ishiola Samuel told the court that Adenekan committed the alleged offences on Sept. 9, 2018, at Ikeja.<\/p>\n<p>Samuel said, \u201cAdenekan was entrusted with a Toyota Corolla with registration no BDG 38 FK for Uber driving business, property of Mr Salako Musa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAdenekan converted the proceeds of N910,000 to his personal use without the consent of Musa and willfully damaged the car,\u201d he told the court.<\/p>\n<p>The News Agency of Nigeria, (NAN) reports that the offences contravened Sections 350 and 278 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The Magistrate, Mrs A.I.
