Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has banned the staging of the \u2018RevolutionNow\u2019 protest in the state.<\/p>\n

Wike further directed all Local Government chairmen in the state to report any suspected activity to the authorities.<\/p>\n

This was contained in a statement issued by the Governor\u2019s Special Assistant on Electronic Media, Simeon Nwakaudu.<\/p>\n

DAILY POST had earlier reported that the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC in the February 2019 election, Omoyele Sowore, had called for a nationwide protests on Monday against what he described as a bad governance.<\/p>\n

The protest, he tagged \u201cRevolution Now\u201d, was planned to take place on Monday, August 5.<\/p>\n

However, personnel of the Department of State Services, DSS, arrested him in the early hours of Saturday. <\/p>\n

Wike said, \u201cRivers State is not part of the \u2018Revolution Now\u2019 protest and whatever illegal agenda it sought to pursue.<\/p>\n

\u201cRivers State does not subscribe to what the \u2018Revolution Now\u2019 protest represents and Rivers State is not part of the protest.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Governor ordered the security agencies in Rivers to arrest and arraign for prosecution anybody who gets involved in the protest.<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
