{"id":137206,"date":"2019-07-21T12:38:04","date_gmt":"2019-07-21T11:38:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=137206"},"modified":"2019-07-21T12:41:04","modified_gmt":"2019-07-21T11:41:04","slug":"canada-sends-message-to-igbos-living-in-country","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=137206","title":{"rendered":"Canada sends message to Igbos living in country"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">The Canadian government has sent a powerful message to the members of the Igbo community in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, Honourable Ralph Goodale, wrote to the Cultural Association of Saskatchewan (ICAS) as they prepare to celebrate their Nigerian-Canadian heritage on August 3.<\/p>\n<p>Writing on behalf of Prime Minister Trudeau and the Government of Canada, Minister Goodale expressed pleasure to extend greetings to everyone who will be attending Igbo Day.<\/p>\n<p>The letter read: \u201cGreetings to the Igbo Day of Art and Culture On behalf of Prime Minister Trudeau and the Government of Canada it is my honour to extend greetings and good wishes to all those attending the Igbo Day of Art and Culture here in Regina.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs Canadians, we draw strength from our diversity \u2014 the growing Igbo community here in Regina, across the province and across Canada espouses that sentiment and plays an important part in our mosaic of cultures.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs you gather members of the Igbo community and guests for the biennia\/celebration of Igbo arts and culture, you celebrate and increase awareness of the rich Igbo history around the world and here in Saskatchewan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wish you a wonderful evening of excellent art, entertainment &amp; cuisine.
