{"id":132826,"date":"2019-07-04T18:38:26","date_gmt":"2019-07-04T17:38:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=132826"},"modified":"2019-07-04T18:40:48","modified_gmt":"2019-07-04T17:40:48","slug":"lagos-pipeline-explosion-records-10-casualties-30-vehicles-burnt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=132826","title":{"rendered":"Lagos Pipeline Explosion Records 10 Casualties, 30 Vehicles Burnt"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><span class=\"ds-1col file file-image file-image-png view-mode-embedded centered clearfix block-story-object block-story-object-resource block-story-object-resource-image\"><br \/>\n<span class=\"block-story-object-asset\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"media-element file-embedded\" typeof=\"foaf:Image\" src=\"http:\/\/arewa.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/UPDATE-Lagos-Pipeline-Explosion-Records-10-Casualties-30-Vehicles-Burnt.png\" alt=\"\"><\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"container container-pod container-pod-short\"><span class=\"adunit-parent hide block-module block-module-ad block-module-ad-300x250\"><span class=\"block-module-image-wrapper\"><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, General Manager of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency has said that oil bunkerers intentionally started the fire that broke out at Ijegun, Lagos, today.<\/p>\n<p>Provided more information on what led to the fire incident, the LASEMA GM said the vandals stormed the area to siphon petrol but were engaged by security agencies who attempted to apprehend them.<\/p>\n<p>They, however, started the fire to divert the security agencies from arresting them.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the scene of the fire incident, he said, \u201cOn arrival of LRT at the scene of the incident, it was gathered that some vandals were engaged in bunkering activities at Fire Junction, Ijegun within the vicinity where an NNPC pipeline was buried.<br \/>\n<span class=\"ds-1col block-story-object block-story-object-link block-story-object-link-story\" about=\"\/2019\/07\/04\/breaking-news-pipeline-explosion-rocks-lagos-emergency-team-says-two-dead\" typeof=\"sioc:Item foaf:Document\"><br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"block-story-object-content-body\"><br \/>\n<span class=\"node node-story node-promoted node-sticky taxonomy-breaking-news view-mode-embedded_link block-module block-module-small block-module-story\"><br \/>\n<span class=\"block-module-image block-module-image-scale-to-fit\"><span class=\"block-module-image-wrapper\"><span class=\"image-background-wrapper\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" typeof=\"foaf:Image\" src=\"http:\/\/arewa.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/1562253598_572_UPDATE-Lagos-Pipeline-Explosion-Records-10-Casualties-30-Vehicles-Burnt.png\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" alt=\"\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe vandals had already siphoned petrol into a 33,000 litres tanker while a second tanker of the same capacity was being loaded when security agencies suddenly intercepted the vandals.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile trying to escape, some of the siphoned fuel spilled into the drainage and the vandals were alleged to have set the spilled fuel on fire in a bid to deter the security agencies from apprehending them.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fire eventually returned to the pipeline point where the vandals siphoned the fuel and exploded with escalating fire which led to two fatalities and over 30 vehicles burnt, eight persons were also injured.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe actual loss will be determined upon conducting post-disaster enumeration after the fire has been put out.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Responders at the scene include the Federal Fire Service, Lagos Fire Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Niger Police Force and Lagos State Emergency Management Agency.<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, General Manager of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency has said that oil bunkerers intentionally started the fire that broke out at Ijegun, Lagos, today.
