{"id":130688,"date":"2019-06-27T20:12:10","date_gmt":"2019-06-27T19:12:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=130688"},"modified":"2019-06-27T20:14:02","modified_gmt":"2019-06-27T19:14:02","slug":"man-who-chopped-off-aedc-officials-finger-sentenced-to-prison","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=130688","title":{"rendered":"Man who chopped off AEDC official&#8217;s finger sentenced to prison"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/arewa.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Man-bags-12-month-imprisonment-for-stealing-rice-in-Lagos.jpg\"><\/p>\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">A Mararaba Upper Area Court in Nasarawa State, on Thursday, sentenced a 24-year-old man, Abubakar Gambo, to 11 months in prison for chopping off the finger of an official of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), with a cutlass.<\/p>\n<p>The judge, Ibrahim Shekarau, sentenced Gambo, who resides in Mararaba, after he pleaded guilty to assault, criminal force causing hurt.<\/p>\n<p>Shekarau however gave the convict an option to pay a fine of N10,000, NAN reports.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Sgt. Godwin Ejeh, told the court that the victim, Ahmed Tijani, a staff of AEDC reported the matter at the Sani Abacha Road Police Station, Mararaba, Nasarawa State, on June 11.<\/p>\n<p>Ejeh said the complainant alleged that, while discharging his official duty of disconnecting electricity, the convict confronted him and in the process cut off his finger with a cutlass.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor also said that the offence contravened provisions of sections 265, 263 and 246 of the Penal Code.\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Mararaba Upper Area Court in Nasarawa State, on Thursday, sentenced a 24-year-old man, Abubakar Gambo, to 11 months in prison for chopping off the finger of an official of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), with a cutlass.
