{"id":128829,"date":"2019-06-21T17:37:42","date_gmt":"2019-06-21T16:37:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=128829"},"modified":"2019-06-21T17:38:08","modified_gmt":"2019-06-21T16:38:08","slug":"over-14000-nigerians-evacuated-from-libya-niger-mali-national-emergency-agency","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=128829","title":{"rendered":"Over 14,000 Nigerians Evacuated From Libya, Niger, Mali \u2013National Emergency Agency"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><span class=\"ds-1col file file-image file-image-jpeg view-mode-embedded centered clearfix block-story-object block-story-object-resource block-story-object-resource-image\"><br \/>\n<span class=\"block-story-object-asset\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"media-element file-embedded\" typeof=\"foaf:Image\" src=\"http:\/\/arewa.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Nine-Children-Eight-Infants-Among-141-Stranded-Nigerians-Returned-From-Libya.jpeg\" alt=\"\"><\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"container container-pod container-pod-short\"><span class=\"adunit-parent hide block-module block-module-ad block-module-ad-300x250\"><span class=\"block-module-image-wrapper\"><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has put the total number of Nigerians who voluntarily returned home under the Assisted Voluntary Returnees Programme (AVRP) which began in April 2017 to 14,036.<\/p>\n<p>The Nigerians, who were stranded in Libya, Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso, Ireland, France, Gambia, Austria, Poland, Morocco and Liberia returned home by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and the European Union (EU).<\/p>\n<p>The Coordinator of NEMA in Lagos, Idris Muhammed, stated this while receiving a new batch of 137 Nigerians who returned from Libya on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Muhammad said out of the total 14,036 returnees repatriated so far, 12,457 were brought back from Libya.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cThe analysis on the total number that has been brought back indicates that 465 males and 408 females amongst those brought back had psychosocial related needs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlso, 454 males and 618 females are having various degrees of medical needs. The analysis further indicates that there were 61 males and 61 females, unaccompanied minors who had been reunited with their relations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are 37 pregnant women brought back so far in the course of the exercise.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 137 new returnees were brought back in a chartered Al Buraq airline with registration number MVTBRQ189\/20.5A- WAC, landing at the Cargo Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos at 8:20 pm on Thursday night.<\/p>\n<p>The returnees comprised of 94 male adults, three male children and three male infants as well as 34 female adults, a young girl and two female infants.<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has put the total number of Nigerians who voluntarily returned home under the Assisted Voluntary Returnees Programme (AVRP) which began in April 2017 to 14,036.
