{"id":124836,"date":"2019-06-09T12:23:08","date_gmt":"2019-06-09T11:23:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=124836"},"modified":"2019-06-09T13:34:18","modified_gmt":"2019-06-09T12:34:18","slug":"buhari-to-open-efccs-anti-corruption-summit-in-abuja","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=124836","title":{"rendered":"Buhari To Open EFCC\u2019s Anti-Corruption Summit In Abuja"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><span class=\"ds-1col file file-image file-image-jpeg view-mode-embedded centered clearfix block-story-object block-story-object-resource block-story-object-resource-image\"><br \/>\n<span class=\"block-story-object-asset\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"media-element file-embedded\" typeof=\"foaf:Image\" src=\"http:\/\/arewa.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Buhari-To-Open-EFCC\u2019s-Anti-Corruption-Summit-In-Abuja.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"container container-pod container-pod-short\"><span class=\"adunit-parent hide block-module block-module-ad block-module-ad-300x250\"><span class=\"block-module-image-wrapper\"><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>President Muhammadu Buhari will on  Tuesday, June 11, declare open a National Democracy Day Anti-corruption Summit.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Tony Orilade, EFCC\u2019s Acting Head, Media and Publicity made this known in a statement in Abuja on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Orilade said that the summit would hold at the Congress Hall, Transcorp Hilton, Abuja by 11 am.<\/p>\n<p>The summit is being organised by EFCC in collaboration with the Presidential Inauguration Planning Committee.<\/p>\n<p>The summit is themed: \u201cCurbing Electoral Spending: A panacea to Public Corruption\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>According to Orilade, President Buhari will feature alongside the President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame; Ghana\u2019s Nana Akufo-Addo; Liberia\u2019s George Weah, and, Macky Sall of Senegal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Nigerian President and his African counterparts would at the occasion further lend their voices against corruption.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe occasion will also feature paper presentation on the \u201cUse of Public Funds in Election Litigation and the Integrity of the Judiciary\u201d by retired Justice Ayo Salami,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Other paper presenters are: Kagame, who will speak on \u201cElectoral Spending, Voter Inducement and Public Corruption: an African Overview.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cProf. Attahiru Jega, former Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will be speaking on \u201cCurbing Electoral Spending and Voter Inducement in Nigeria: The Role of Regulatory and Law Enforcement Agencies\u201d, while Prof. Patrice LO Lumumba will offer a\u201cReview of Anti-corruption Strategy in Africa and the Way Forward,\u201d Orilade added.<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President Muhammadu Buhari will on Tuesday, June 11, declare open a National Democracy Day Anti-corruption Summit.
