{"id":123282,"date":"2019-06-03T16:28:35","date_gmt":"2019-06-03T15:28:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=123282"},"modified":"2019-06-03T16:28:59","modified_gmt":"2019-06-03T15:28:59","slug":"bandits-didnt-attack-my-convoy-we-raided-their-hideout-zamfara-governor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=123282","title":{"rendered":"Bandits Didn&#8217;t Attack My Convoy, We Raided Their Hideout -Zamfara Governor"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><span class=\"ds-1col file file-image file-image-jpeg view-mode-embedded centered clearfix block-story-object block-story-object-resource block-story-object-resource-image\"><br \/>\n<span class=\"block-story-object-asset\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"media-element file-embedded\" typeof=\"foaf:Image\" src=\"http:\/\/arewa.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Bandits-Didnt-Attack-My-Convoy-We-Raided-Their-Hideout-Zamfara-Governor.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Bandits on Sunday attacked the convoy of Zamfara governor, Bello Matawalle, on his way to condole with victims of a previous attack on a community in Gusau Local Government Area.<br \/>\n<span class=\"container container-pod container-pod-short\"><span class=\"adunit-parent hide block-module block-module-ad block-module-ad-300x250\"><span class=\"block-module-image-wrapper\"><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>But the governor said it was his security team that gave the bandits a chase.<\/p>\n<p>According to eyewitnesses, the attack on Matawalle occurred while he was on his way to Lilo community to condole with victims of armed bandit attacks in the area.<\/p>\n<p>The bandits took advantage of the bushy terrain and opened fire on the governor&#8217;s motorcade.<\/p>\n<p>Countering reports of the attack, the state government on Monday, issued a statement saying the governor and his team were the ones who went after the attackers and not the other way round.<\/p>\n<p>Yusuf Idris, spokesperson for the governor, said Matawalle led the security operatives to launch an \u2018operation\u2019 against the bandits in their hideouts.<\/p>\n<p>Idris said the governor was accompanied by his deputy, Mahadi Aliyu-Gusau, the state\u2019s security heads and other dignitaries.<\/p>\n<p>The team, he claimed, was able \u201cto chase bandits at their camps during the unannounced visit to the area.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDespite this, the governor did not feel discouraged and moved ahead to Lilo village for the condolence visit,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs chief security officer of the state, l have to show a good example, I have no option than to lead security agencies for this operation.
