{"id":121565,"date":"2019-05-29T03:03:07","date_gmt":"2019-05-29T02:03:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=121565"},"modified":"2019-05-29T03:05:05","modified_gmt":"2019-05-29T02:05:05","slug":"inauguration-ohanaeze-sets-agenda-for-south-east-governors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=121565","title":{"rendered":"Inauguration: Ohanaeze sets agenda for South-East governors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/arewa.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/APC-vs-PDP-Real-reason-Igbos-voted-for-Sanwo-Olu-in-Lagos-Ohanaeze.jpg\"><\/p>\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council, OYC, on Tuesday congratulated the South-East Governors on their re-election, urging them to prioritize economic integration of the zone.<\/p>\n<p>This formed part of the press statement signed by the Secretary-General of the group, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike and the Deputy National President, Comrade Obinna Achuonye.<\/p>\n<p>OYC said the re-election of the governors of Enugu, Abia and Ebonyi, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu and Chief David Umahi, respectively, bore eloquent testimony to their sterling performances during their first term in office.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, \u201ca new dawn beckons in the South-East zone with the re-election of these governors, who have engraved their names in records of performance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe salute them for living to the promises made to the residents of their States, which had translated to their electoral victories.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is also important to take note and congratulate the Governor-elect of Imo State, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha for his victory.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt this juncture, our message to the governors is that the period of electioneering is over. This is the time to work for the people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBefore now, much has been said about economic integration of the South-East, so the time for action is now. We look forward to a robust and functional South-East Governors\u2019 Forum.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe urge the governor of Enugu State to use his second term towards hanessing the crude oil deposit at different areas of the state, like Oji River, Isi Uzo, Uzo Uwani etc. It will boost IGR, job creation and other benefits to oil communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On the new National Minimum Wage, the OYC said, \u201cwe expect our governors to show the way. We know that Federal Allocation to our zone is always minimal but with the Igbo \u2018can do spirit\u2019, the sky will be your starting point. There is no doubt that workers deserve a better deal and every effort should be put in place to make it possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>They also called on those who lost out in the elections to close ranks and work with the Governors in other to move the zone forward.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe take note of the effort in Enugu to see that the APC guber candidate withdraws his petition.
