Constitutional lawyer and human rights activist, Mike Ozekhome SAN, has reacted to Friday\u2019s Supreme Court verdict which nullified the victory of the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidates in Zamfara State.<\/p>\n

Ozekhome said the apex court ruling would go a long way in deepening democracy in Nigeria.<\/p>\n

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, who was the lead counsel of the Kabiru Marafa-led faction of the APC seeking the nullification of the party\u2019s primaries, said justice has been served and rightfully so.<\/p>\n

In a brief statement issued in reaction to the court ruling, he said, \u201cWhat the apex court has done today (Friday) is to deepen, widen and strengthen democracy and our democratic precepts.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt shows that parties must maintain internal democracy and cannot whimsically, capriciously and arbitrarily operate outside their constitution, guidelines, the Electoral Act and the Constitution.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Supreme Court has redefined our jurisprudence by showing that when a party damages its primaries, it can never reap the proceeds of its illegalities.<\/p>\n
