<\/p>\nThe party alerted the general public to the existence of fake platforms in the name of the party (APC), aiming to misinform and undermine the leadership of the party in the state.<\/p>\n
This was contained in statement by the publicity secretary of APC in Abia, Comrade Benedict Godson, obtained by DAILY POST Post Saturday evening, in Umuahia.<\/p>\n
It warned the particular die-hard ally of the APC gubernatorial flag bearer, Igbokwe, said to be the operator of a WhatsApp Group with the title: \u201cApc Abia & Naional\u201d, where party related issues were being discussed.<\/p>\n
Godson urged the APC stalwart to pull the platform down within 24hrs or change the name to indicate that it was his personal platform.<\/p>\n
He explained that it was not against any member who owns social media platform of his choice, but that such should not be created in the party\u2019s name to avoid anyone taking it to be official information outfits of the Abia chapter of APC.<\/p>\n
It reads, \u201cWe are not against anyone using social media. We all make use of it, but we advice the Admin of that WhatsApp Group called \u201cApc Abia & Nat\u2019l\u201d to within 24hrs take it down or he\u2019ll hear from the party.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s free to own his platform and give it any name of his choice that\u2019s not our business, but creating a platform with our name and making everyone think it\u2019s official from the party is not acceptable.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have many things to handle and the last thing we want now is unnecessary rumours and fake news among us. We don\u2019t need it and such platforms created in our names and anything that comes out from it will always be attributed to us.<\/p>\n
\u201cI reiterate, let him take it down or simply change the name and continue other things. What\u2019s important to us is our name \u201cAPC Abia\u201d and nothing else.\u201d<\/p>\n
When contacted on phone to respond, Mr. Damian Igbokwe, who is a member of the Uche Ogah 2019 Governorship Campaign Media directorates, declined to speak with reporters.<\/p>\n
