The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kwara State, Razaq Atunwa, has asked the Governorship Election Tribunal in the state to order a fresh election.<\/p>\n

The All Progressives Congress, APC, emerged winner of the governorship election.<\/p>\n

The Action Alliance, AA, is also challenging the victory of the APC.<\/p>\n

The ruling PDP made the call at the commencement of the pre-hearing trial yesterday at the tribunal.<\/p>\n

Counsel to Atunwa and PDP in the state, Kingsley Odeh, said that the winner of the poll, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, of the APC was not qualified to contest the poll.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur ground was that the second respondent at the time of election was not qualified.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe gave a false certificate to INEC.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the pre-hearing session meant to adopt petitioners\u2019 answers to pre-hearing information sheet, applications before the tribunal were filed and adopted.<\/p>\n

The lead judge in the tribunal, Justice Bassey Effiong, who warned counsels against time wasting, insisting that the tribunal would not extend the 14-day period for the pre-hearing trial.<\/p>\n
