President Muhammadu Buhari has commiserated with government and people of South Africa over loss of lives resulting from torrential downpours and mudslides.<\/p>\n

In a statement made available to DAILY POST on Saturday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, President Buhari said he was \u201cprofoundly touched by the unfortunate incident.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cI am saddened by the loss of lives and destruction caused by the natural disaster,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cSuch disasters destroy within hours everything the people have laboured for, forcing many to start from the scratch.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is particularly difficult for developing countries battling with poverty,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n

The President extends deep sympathy to families affected by the natural disaster, praying that God will comfort and strengthen them in their hour of need.<\/p>\n
