{"id":111283,"date":"2019-04-27T05:50:50","date_gmt":"2019-04-27T04:50:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=111283"},"modified":"2019-04-27T06:39:55","modified_gmt":"2019-04-27T05:39:55","slug":"new-minimum-wage-government-begins-negotiations-with-nlc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=111283","title":{"rendered":"New minimum wage: Government begins negotiations with NLC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/arewa.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/New-minimum-wage-Government-begins-negotiations-with-NLC.jpg\"><\/p>\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">Oyo State Government has opened negotiations on the new minimum wage, as it congratulated the newly elected officers of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in the state.<\/p>\n<p>This is contained in a statement signed by the State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Toye Arulogun, on Friday in Ibadan.<\/p>\n<p>The NLC in the state on Thursday elected its new officers with Mr Adebayo Titilolola-Sodo as the new State Chairman.<\/p>\n<p>The state government commended the union for its peaceful transition, adding that its doors for negotiation on the minimum wage were opened as requested in the union\u2019s earlier letter.<\/p>\n<p>It promised that a meeting would be held with NLC on Monday to open discussions on modalities for implementing the new minimum wage signed by President Muhammad Buhari on April 18.<\/p>\n<p>The state government commended the state chapter of NLC for its cooperation in the last eight years of the Abiola Ajimobi-led administration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Oyo State Government is impressed with the hitch free elections of the NLC and the peaceful leadership transition, which is in tandem with the ideals of the Ajimobi administration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis coincides with the inauguration of transition committee comprising top government officials and the nominees of the governor-elect by the governor,\u2019\u2019 it said.<\/p>\n<p>It commended the immediate past executive of the union led by Comrade Waheed Olojede, for the cooperation and support given to the administration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey commended government\u2019s efforts in deploying 100 per cent of the state\u2019s Federal Allocation to payment of workers\u2019 salary, which helped in regular payment of salaries inspite of the economic challenges in the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe urge the new leadership of the union to replicate same understanding with the in-coming governor and his team as governance is a continuum.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMore importantly, it is significant that the Ajimobi administration has offset the seven months backlog of workers\u2019 salaries and will endeavour to pay May Salary before May 28,\u201d it said.\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Oyo State Government has opened negotiations on the new minimum wage, as it congratulated the newly elected officers of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in the state.
