{"id":110788,"date":"2019-04-25T18:22:27","date_gmt":"2019-04-25T17:22:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=110788"},"modified":"2019-04-25T18:23:29","modified_gmt":"2019-04-25T17:23:29","slug":"efcc-arrests-32-suspected-yahoo-boys-in-abeokuta","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=110788","title":{"rendered":"EFCC arrests 32 suspected Yahoo boys in Abeokuta"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/arewa.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/EFCC-arrests-32-suspected-Yahoo-boys-in-Abeokuta.jpg\"><\/p>\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibadan Zonal Office, on Thursday, arrested 32 suspected internet fraudsters, better known as Yahoo boys, in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Tony Orilade, the commission\u2019s spokesman disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the suspects aged between 15 and 39 years were arrested at Liberty Estate, Laderin area in Abeokuta, during an early morning operation carried out by men of the agency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dDue to the timing, the suspects were taken by surprise when the EFCC operatives swept on them at one of their notorious havens in the ancient city.<\/p>\n<p>\u201d14 of them claimed to be undergraduates while 18 others said they were self-employed in various vocations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dThe arrest was sequel to a petition detailing their alleged fraudulent activities, including internet fraud through which they obtain money from unsuspecting victims.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSix exotic cars, laptops, cell phones, several documents containing false pretences and fetish objects were among items recovered from the suspects.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe suspects are already helping operatives with useful information and will be charged to court once investigation is concluded,\u201d the EFCC spokesman said.\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibadan Zonal Office, on Thursday, arrested 32 suspected internet fraudsters, better known as Yahoo boys, in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.
