{"id":110642,"date":"2019-04-25T13:10:10","date_gmt":"2019-04-25T12:10:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=110642"},"modified":"2019-04-25T13:10:51","modified_gmt":"2019-04-25T12:10:51","slug":"nysc-reacts-to-increasing-corps-members-allowance-to-n31800","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=110642","title":{"rendered":"NYSC reacts to &#8216;increasing&#8217; corps members\u2019 allowance to N31,800"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/arewa.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/NYSC-speaks-on-covering-death-of-corps-member-in-Bauchi-camp.jpg\"><\/p>\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has reacted to reports that the allowance of corps members have been increased to N31,800 following President Muhammadu Buhari\u2019s signing of the new minimum wage bill into law.<\/p>\n<p>It stated that the Federal Government was yet to inform the scheme of such increment.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking with Vanguard on Wednesday, NYSC\u2019s Deputy Director, Eddy Megwa insisted that there was no new development yet on corps members\u2019 allowance.<\/p>\n<p>Megwa said the NYSC does not pay corps members directly, and that any new development will be duly communicated.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cThe NYSC does not pay corps members any sum of money directly as stipends but the federal government does.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUntil the government is ready to implement the N30,000 minimum wage, we cannot say what corps members will earn for their service to the nation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDisregard any figure you find making the rounds on social media.
