{"id":110142,"date":"2019-04-24T00:16:37","date_gmt":"2019-04-23T23:16:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=110142"},"modified":"2019-04-24T11:53:56","modified_gmt":"2019-04-24T10:53:56","slug":"police-boss-arrests-officers-for-extortion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=110142","title":{"rendered":"Police boss arrests officers for extortion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/arewa.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Security-guard-sentenced-to-prison-for-abducting-raping-minor.jpg\"><\/p>\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">Mr Sulaiman Balarabe, the Commissioner of Police (CP) in Enugu State, has arrested four policemen for allegedly extorting money from motorists and tricycle operators in Enugu metropolis.<\/p>\n<p>The command\u2019s Public Relations Officer, SP Ebere Amaraizu, stated this in a release issued in Enugu on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Amaraizu stated that the CP arrested the four operatives at the weekend during his routine patrol in the capital city.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the Assistant Superintendent of Police, who led the team, had been queried, while members of his team were currently facing orderly room trial at the command\u2019s provost office.<\/p>\n<p>He quoted the CP to have warned \u201cthat any officer of the command caught in any manner of extortion would not be spared.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the statement, \u201cadequate disciplinary action would be urgently taken against such erring personnel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The commissioner, however, advised motorists and tricycle operators to desist from offering money to policemen, no matter the pressure.<\/p>\n<p>He urged them to report such erring personnel promptly to the command\u2019s headquarters for necessary action.\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mr Sulaiman Balarabe, the Commissioner of Police (CP) in Enugu State, has arrested four policemen for allegedly extorting money from motorists and tricycle operators in Enugu metropolis.
