{"id":109570,"date":"2019-04-22T13:01:31","date_gmt":"2019-04-22T12:01:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=109570"},"modified":"2019-04-22T13:01:57","modified_gmt":"2019-04-22T12:01:57","slug":"kajuru-killing-an-attack-on-nigeria-tourism-naptop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=109570","title":{"rendered":"Kajuru killing an attack on Nigeria tourism &#8211; NAPTOP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/arewa.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Kajuru-killing-an-attack-on-Nigeria-tourism-NAPTOP.png\"><\/p>\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">The Nigeria Association of Tour Operators (NATOP) has sympathised with the families of the tourists killed at a recreational centre in Kajuru, Kaduna State.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs Bilikisu Abdul, National President of the association, condemned the inhumane act while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>DAILY POST reports that a Briton, Miss Faye Mooney and another tourist were killed and three others abducted by kidnappers at a recreational resort in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna state on April 19.<\/p>\n<p>The incident happened on Friday when some suspected kidnappers, armed with dangerous weapons, gained entry into a recreational resort, Kajuru Castle.<\/p>\n<p>The bandits shot sporadically and in the process, shot dead two persons, including an expatriate lady and took away three others.<\/p>\n<p>The NATOP President, however, called on government and the security agencies to ensure the perpetrators of the cruel act were thoroughly investigated and made to face the full wrath of the law.<\/p>\n<p>She described it as an attack on Nigerian economy and \u201ca setback for the association trying to promote our beautiful tourism destinations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201dWe sympathise with the families of the killed tourists at a recreational resort at Kajuru; may their souls rest in peace.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dWe want government to ensure the criminals are fished out and made to face the full wrath of the law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dThis is an attack on Nigerian economy and a setback for us as an association trying to promote our beautiful tourism destinations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dOur members are enthusiastic on selling Nigeria as a destination to Nigerians and foreigners; we should be supported by all and not sabotaged.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dIt is sad this is happening now as 2018\/2019 has been the best year for the promotion of domestic tourism in Nigeria and we hope this does not discourage our members from selling Nigeria,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Abdul said insecurity had been a serious threat to the development of Nigerian tourism industry.<\/p>\n<p>According to her, the development will have negative effect on the activities of the association in trying to promote the nation\u2019s domestic tourism.<\/p>\n<p>She urged members of the association to take more security precautions in future tours in the light of the unfortunate experience in Kaduna.<\/p>\n<p>\u201d I want our members to take security issues seriously whenever organising tours for individuals, organisations and more; we should not allow the problem of insecurity to pull us back in achieving our goals,\u201d she added<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigeria Association of Tour Operators (NATOP) has sympathised with the families of the tourists killed at a recreational centre in Kajuru, Kaduna State.
