{"id":108119,"date":"2019-04-17T14:41:30","date_gmt":"2019-04-17T13:41:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=108119"},"modified":"2019-04-17T14:45:25","modified_gmt":"2019-04-17T13:45:25","slug":"court-orders-dss-to-produce-dasuki-for-trial-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=108119","title":{"rendered":"Court Orders DSS to produce Dasuki for trial"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><span class=\"ds-1col file file-image file-image-png view-mode-embedded centered clearfix block-story-object block-story-object-resource block-story-object-resource-image\"><br \/>\n<span class=\"block-story-object-asset\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"media-element file-embedded\" typeof=\"foaf:Image\" src=\"http:\/\/arewa.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Dasuki-Seeks-Court-Order-To-Invite-Falana-Others-To-Speak-On-His-Detention.png\" alt=\"\"><\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"container container-pod container-pod-short\"><span class=\"adunit-parent hide block-module block-module-ad block-module-ad-300x250\"><span class=\"block-module-image-wrapper\"><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>An FCT High Court in Maitama, Abuja, has ordered the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS) to produce Sambo Dasuki, Nigeria&#8217;s former National Security Adviser (NSA), in court for his trial.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Husseini Baba-Yusuf gave the order on Monday, as a result of the absence of Dasuki in court for his trial over allegations of criminal breach of trust and money laundering.<\/p>\n<p>Dasuki, who was charged alongside Aminu Baba Kusa, a former General Executive Director at the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Acacia Holdings Limited, and Reliance Referral Hospital, was not in court at the resumed hearing.<\/p>\n<p>Oluwaleke Atolagbe, the prosecuting counsel, told the court that while the prosecution was in court with witnesses that came from Port Harcourt, Dasuki, who is the first defendant, was not in court.<\/p>\n<p>Dasuki\u2019s counsel, Victor Okwudiri, expressed surprise that the prosecution wanted an explanation from the defence on the whereabouts of Dasuki, who he said was in the custody of the government against the orders of the court.<\/p>\n<p>In his response, Atolagbe said: \u201cThe EFCC cannot produce the first defendant (Dasuki) because he is not in our custody,\u201d. According to him, the trial court, the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court have all ruled that Dasuki was in the custody of the DSS.<\/p>\n<p>He, therefore, urged the court to issue a production warrant on the DSS to produce Dasuki on the next adjourned date.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt appears the prosecution has failed to do so and did not provide any explanation for failing to do so.
