<\/p>\nDSP Nnamdi Omoni, the command\u2019s spokesman stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Port Harcourt.<\/p>\n
Omoni warned those he described as hooligans to keep off the examination and interview centres for the recruitment.<\/p>\n
He said that those with questionable characters who might have been recruited by omission in the past would be flushed out when discovered.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe police have no immediate means of knowing a criminal, but if after recruitment we discover that one has a criminal record, he\/she will be shown the way out.<\/p>\n
\u201cSuch suspects could be prosecuted accordingly.<\/p>\n
\u201cHowever, ex-militants and ex-cultist that have been granted amnesty by either the Federal or State Governments and have repented genuinely could be recruited,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n
NAN recalls that some applicants that wore tattoos in past recruitments were sent back.<\/p>\n
Omoni advised Rivers youths to shun cultism, kidnapping, armed robbery and other crimes to \u201cface life squarely\u201d by engaging in legitimate and meaningful activities to earn a living.<\/p>\n
