Barring any unforeseen circumstance, Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, will return to the state next week, DAILY POST can authoritatively report.
DAILY POST had during the week exclusively reported how Governor Akeredolu had gone on vacation to the United States of America without recourse to the state’s house of assembly.
A source within the government’s circle, who preferred anonymity, confirmed to DAILY POST that the governor will undoubtedly return to the state next week.
The source further stated that the unscheduled return might not unconnected with the report published by this medium on the governor’s constitutional gaffe.
“All I can tell you now is that Aketi (Gov. Akeredolu) will be back next week. As regards if a leave letter was transmitted to the Ondo State House of Assembly, that I can’t say.”
“Yes, he went for his son’s wedding and used the opportunity to meet potential investors in order to attract them to the state,” the source added.
The governor, who was last seen in the state on the July 12 before jetting out of the country on 15 for his son’s wedding in Colorado, was revealed not to have notified the Ondo State House of Assembly of his intended prolonged stay outside the state, as no leave letter was read on the floor of the house indicating the governor’s long absence or any letter vesting the deputy governor in an acting capacity pending the return of the governor.
Meanwhile, efforts of the governor’s media handlers to inform residents of the state who had become perturbed on the whereabouts of the governor, who spent only seven days in the state between the months of June and July proved abortive even with the persistent press statements which stated that the governor is on a working visit to the US.
A social commentator in state who craved anonymity criticized the defence mechanism employed by the government for not stating the obvious as regards the governor’s movement.
He maintained that residents of the state were not being adequately briefed on the itinerary of the governor stating that no one can pinpoint the exact location of the governor.
“My brother, this is what we have been confronted with. Why should they be telling us now that he (Gov. Akeredolu) his on a working visit? What is the crime in it if we (residents) have been adequately briefed that he will be going on a working visit in so, so and so places after his son’s wedding.”
“This was even after we queried his non-availability in the state in the month of June,” he said.
