EPL: Chelsea players revolt against Conte, want manager sacked

[ad_1]

Manager Antonio Conte has lost the support of his Chelsea squad.

The Premier League holders have been humbled by Bournemouth; knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Arsenal; and are in danger of slipping outside the top four ahead of a very testing Champions League tie against Barcelona.

An insider at Stamford Bridge, the home of Chelsea, told ESPN Brasil that Conte could be sacked if Chelsea lose to Barcelona.

The source said that all the senior players in the squad, accept for Cesar Azpilicueta, have lost faith in their manager.

According to the report, Conte’s decision to axe Diego Costa by text began the turmoil on the club.

It added that the manager’s recent bust-up with defender David Luiz only made matters worse.

Now, Cesar Azpilicueta is the only player who is still on Conte’s side, with many players feeling the same way they did under Jose Mourinho back in 2015.

The former Juventus boss has the Champions League game against Barcelona as his last chance, according to the report.

If Chelsea lose the match, Carlo Ancelotti or Luis Enrique may take over at Stamford Bridge.
