Easter: Police to mount guard in Anambra churches to forestall attacks

The Anambra State Police Command says it has made adequate arrangement to ensure coverage for all places of worship against any form of attack during the Easter celebrations.

A press release by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Haruna Mohammed, on behalf of the state commissioner of police, CP Dandaura Mustapha, assured people of the state that this year’s Easter period, like previous ones, would be celebrated peacefully.

Haruna said, “The Command has prepared an elaborate operations order which effectively covers all places of worships, recreation centres, public buildings, flashpoints, black spots and other vulnerable areas in order to ensure adequate protection of life and properties in the State.

“Individuals or groups desiring and planning to truncate this noble intention are warned to desist forthwith as any breach of the public peace will attract full wrath of the law.”

He conveyed the best wishes of the commissioner of police to all Christians in the state during the celebration while enjoining them to use the period and pray for sustainable peace in the state and nation at large.
