In preparation for this year’s Easter celebrations, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo state command said it has “deployed about 2, 800 personnel on special duty to different parts of the state for protection of lives and property”.
NSCDC State Commandant, Dr. John Adewoye made this known in a statement sent to DAILY POST on Wednesday by Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Command, Mr. Olusegun Oluwole.
Adewoye, in the statement, said, “Counter terrorist unit, surveillance, Disaster management unit, and more armed men had been deployed to all black spots across the state especially Oke Ogun axis.”
He said, “This was to ensure security of lives and property during the period”, adding that his men and other sister agencies will deal decisively with criminal elements in Oyo state.
The State Commandant added that, “The Command ambulance and other patrol team will be along Lagos /Ibadan road, Abeokuta/Ibadan road, Oyo/Ibadan road, Iseyin/Ibadan road, Eruwa/Ibadan road and other local government across the state to ensure prompt attention of his agency anytime a distress call is put through to the control room on 09055533301 and 09055533303.”
He urged Nigerians, irrespective of their religion, to be law abiding during the Easter celebrations and after.
Adewoye added that “Oyo state and Nigeria belong to all of us, hence there is need for the general public, religious leaders, parents and guardians to be security conscious about the movement of people in their area during the celebration and volunteer information to NSCDC as such information will be treated with utmost confidentiality.”
