The Police in Abuja on Tuesday arraigned a 34-year-old businessman, Attahiru Mohammed, in a Wuse Zone 2 Magistrates’ Court, for alleged conspiracy, forgery and unlawful reselling of land.

The defendant of Bwari area, FCT, Abuja, is facing a five- count charge of criminal conspiracy, misappropriation, forgery, theft and breach of trust.

The prosecutor, Mr Dabo Yakubu, told the court that the accused, together with one Simon Korapera, sold a piece of land on two different occasions to two different people.

According to him, the defendant sold the said plot of land at the rate of N35 million to the complainant, Mrs Deborah Babatunde of Works Department, Bwari Area Council in Abuja.

Mohammed allegedly withheld the documents and later resold the same piece of land to one Sarkis Gabriel at the rate of N50 million.

Yakubu said the accused conspired and forged power of attorney with which he and his accomplice, now at large, resold the said piece of land.

The offences contravened Sections 96, 308, 363, 287 and 311 of the Penal Code.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, Elizabeth Wonni, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N2 million with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case until April 13 for hearing. (NAN)
