Boko Haram: Army confirms attack on Borno communities

The Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, Major General Benson Akinroluye has confirmed the multiple attacks on Auno and Sajeri communities, near Maiduguri, Borno State.

Residents, who fled the area, said two persons were killed with five houses razed after the insurgents looted foodstuff, livestock and provisions.

They were later repelled by the military forces and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).

Auno is located West of the Maiduguri Metropolis, while Sajeri is an outskirt and few metres away from Ajilari community of the City.

Major General Akinroluye, who confirmed the incident to journalists in his office, Maimalari Containment, said he was yet to get the actual number of the casualties, but was set to visit the affected communities to ensure adequate protection of lives and properties.

His words: “We have received a distress call on the Boko Haram attacks in Auno and other surrounding communities of Maiduguri Metropolis.

”I am on my way to the affected communities to ensure we provide adequate security of lives and property.

“Although, I am yet to be briefed by my officers and men who repelled the attacks, I want to reassure all the good people of the state that the military and other security agencies are on top of the renewed security situation in the state.”

He called on all and sundry, especially the media, to assist the military troops in the fight against Boko Haram and other extremists in the Northeast and the country as a whole.
