Police arrest 7 suspected kidnappers, 20 armed robbers, others terrorising Oyo residents [PHOTOS]

The Oyo State Police Command on Tuesday said it has arrested no fewer than seven persons over their involvement in various kidnapping cases in the state.

Commissioner of Police, Mr. Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu, made this declaration while addressing journalists at the state headquarters of the command in Ibadan, the state capital.

Enwonwu also announced that no fewer than twenty armed robbers who have been terrorizing people of the state have been arrested.

The police commissioner also added that five (5) persons were also arrested for their involvement in murder cases.

The suspected kidnappers according to the Police Commissioner included; Abubakar Abdulahi who was arrested in connection with kidnapping of one Anuoluwapo Adeyemo, Nasiru Lawal and Shamsu Auwal arrested in Ibadan, Taiwo Adeoye arrested in connection with kidnapping of Dahiru Wetti and Musa Mumini, Abdul Macheu and Sheu Aliyu arrested in connection with kidnapping of Ore Ojo Temitope and Ojo Funbi Victoria in Igbo-Ora.

He added that a suspected murderer was arrested in connection with the killing of one Happiness Winifred in Ojoo area of Ibadan.

“On June 25, 2020 at about 0700hrs, a complaint was received at Ojoo Police Station, Ojoo from one Agu Benson ‘m’ of Oritoke Area Ojoo Ibadan that one Happiness Winifred ‘f’ age 30 yrs who left her house on Sunday 21st June 2020 was found inside a well on 25th June 2020 in the same area. One Shagbada Erigga ‘m’ confessed to have carried out the dastard killing.”

Enwonwu further revealed that three other people were arrested in connection with attempted murder.

“On 23/06/2020 at about 1200hrs, one Vanzan Qudus ‘m’ aged 12yrs was shot with a single barrel gun on his left cheek and left hand by one Akinyemi Akinlolu ‘m’ on the instruction of his father one Daniel Qudus age 43-yrs a Nationale of Republic of Benin but domiciled at Aba Oyo Olorunda Area Akobo in order to test the efficacy of a charm he acquired from an herbalist”.

Three suspects were arrested in connection with the alleged murderer.

“Suspects: Akinyemi Akinlolu, Daniel Qudus, Oluwatunji Oluwatuyi. Exhibits: One locally made single barrel gun. One empty cartridge”.
