Following the reported siege to the homes of the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, and his Deputy, Chief Ike Ekweremadu, former Kaduna state governor, Alhaji Balarebe Musa, has called on well-meaning Nigerians to prevail on the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to ensure a cordial working relationship with members of the National Assembly for the betterment of the country.
The former governor of old Kaduna state lamented that since the inception of the Buhari government, there have been series of frictions between the executive and the National Assembly, thereby threatening the cooperate existence of Nigeria and national development.
Speaking to DAILY POST in Kaduna on Tuesday, the elder statesman said, “It is very unfortunate that in a country like Nigeria, the executive and the National Assembly are fighting on issues that ordinarily should be resolved to give way for the cooperate existence of the country.
“The executive has been trying to humiliate the National Assembly on issues that should be resolved in a round-table without affecting the common man in the country.
“Those who are able to prevail on the affairs of the country should lend their voices of reasoning to bring the two parties to a round-table for possible solutions and ensure that the common man enjoys the dividends of democracy.
“The continued rivalry between the executive and the National Assembly is not a good omen for the country but efforts should be made to ensure the country gets out of this mess.”
He called on members of both the executive and the National Assembly to place the welfare of the command man above their personal interests that are not doing any good to the peace, unity and development of the country.
